Nike Partners with Lincoln Center for World Basketball Festival

There is no doubt that Nike has perfected the celebration of basketball culture, especially in New York City. Not only has Nike uniquely activated events and launched hoops-focused campaigns, but the brand has also told stories related to the sport that transcend eras in a significant way.

This past weekend Nike executed the World Basketball Festival, a culmination of their summer-long basketball tournament series that graces NYC basketball courts during one of the most wonderful times of the year. Over the course of the weekend, the brand took over Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts to highlight rising high school stars in the boys and girls ranks, provided a best in class experience featuring notable partners and offered some of their latest product offerings on-site. The tournament featured 80 of the best high school basketball players — 40 girls and 40 boys — across 23 states and three countries to compete in the two-day tournament.

Lincoln Center is one of the world’s most notable performing arts venues and Nike’s reach extends well beyond the court. Nike also recently announced their initiative that creates year-round access to the arts for local young people. The long-term commitment includes a $2 million grant that will help provide access to the arts for tens of thousands of youths across the five boroughs.
